WebMay 27, 2024 · In a small doping region, the spectrum shows a site-dependent gap just above the Fermi energy, which is generated by a singularly large self-energy emergent from the Mott physics and regarded as a real-space counterpart of the momentum-dependent pseudogap observed in a square-lattice Hubbard model. 2 More Received 14 January 2024 WebDec 9, 2024 · Transition metal oxides such as vanadium dioxide (VO ), niobium dioxide (NbO ), and titanium sesquioxide (Ti O) are known to undergo a temperature-dependent metal-insulator transition (MIT) in conjunction with a structural transition within their bulk.

WebThis chapter provides a basic introduction to Mott physics in strongly correlated electron solids. It will be pointed out that in contrast to the dominating behaviour of wave nature of electrons in band insulators and semiconductors studied in earlier chapters, the particle nature of electrons along with their Coulomb interaction will now come to the forefront. WebJul 19, 2024 · Whether Mott physics is also crucial in bulk 1T-TaSe 2 is far from a complete understanding. Different groups also grow high-quality monolayer films of 1T-TaS 2 and 1T-TaSe 2 with the molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) method to avoid the interlayer interaction [9, 31, 32]. Both monolayer films show a Mott insulating state. WebMay 13, 2024 · The team confirmed this interpretation with site-by-site conductivity measurements. The results show that bulk 1T-TaS 2 is a trivial insulator, but a single-layer film—if it could be made—would be a Mott insulator. –Michael Schirber.
