Webb30 mars 2009 · Cost is the major reason I have always run used gears. I set the ring and pinions up myself to further reduce cost. If I had the money, I would always buy new gears. Of the 4 different sets of ring and pinions that I have used, I had one set that was noisy. When choosing a used gear set, I simply look for the set with the least ammount of wear. If the numbers read 69-0033-1 then you have a four series carrier Richmond Gear Co, product. If the numbers read 69-0308-1, it is also a Richmond gear but it is for a three series carrier.
