Or the console or a remote session can use the command show log and will see the messages that have been previously written to the log (messages not viewed in real time). HTH. Buffer logging is saved in RAM, so those logs will be kept, but only until switch is restarted. But I would think that when on the vty connection using terminal no monitor should stop notification messages. And on the console using no logging console should stop the messages. Console logging has nothing to do with logging for a telnet session. Logging for a telnet session would relate to logging monitor or perhaps to logging buffered.
