WebMar 31, 2024 · Starsan doesn't clean, it just kills surface microbes that it touches. If you don't clean properly before sanitizing with Starsan, microbes will remain and grow on the gunk that you didn't remove. That is why you have to clean properly first before Starsan can really do its job.
